In this post, I’m going to attempt to answer the question, “What is Manifestation?”

Not only that, but I will dig a little deeper into:

  • How thoughts and feelings affect what you manifest
  • The root cause of why you don’t get what we want
  • How to change your thoughts and beliefs
  • Some manifestation techniques
  • And a simple manifesting process

Let’s dive right in!

What is Manifestation?

Manifestation or manifesting is the process of making your thoughts and desires a reality.

It is the understanding that fundamental laws of the universe and the nature of your mind have a direct effect on the type of life you live, the people you meet and things you experience.

When you know how your mind and these laws work, you can use them to your advantage.

Other names for manifestation are:

  • Conscious creation
  • Co-creating with the universe
  • Deliberate creation
  • Reality creation
  • Bending reality
  • Transurfing reality

Essentially, they all mean to realise your deepest desires in life and then shape your thoughts and intentions to bring this ideal life into fruition.

And what can you create? If you can imagine it, and it’s physically possible, then you can create it.

What’s the Difference Between Manifestation and The Law of Attraction?

Both terms are very similar to each other, but they have some differences.

The Law of Attraction is simply a law of the Universe that states; like attracts like. That means, if you put positive energy out into the world, it will come right back to you. If you put negative energy out into the world, you will experience more negativity.

It’s one fundamental function of the universe, and it’s working whether or not you’re aware of it.

Manifestation is your understanding of how it all works so you can utilise it to get what you want in life, instead of experiencing things you don’t want.

It’s turning your thoughts and ideas into physical reality.

Why Do We Create What We Don’t Want?

If you’ve ever wanted something in your life, then you know that sometimes getting it can be difficult.

And when things don’t go according to plan, it’s because there’s an inner conflict between your conscious and subconscious mind.

What you get in life is a reflection of your subconscious, so physical manifestation is the act of achieving harmony between your conscious and subconscious mind.

If you constantly focus on negative thoughts instead of good thoughts and positivity, then it’s clear to see there’s a disharmony in the subconscious mind.

For example, if you want to make more money but it causes you a feeling of guilt or you think wealthy people are bad, then you end up repelling money instead of attracting it.

We all know of people who keep on repeating the same old patterns time and time again. Maybe that’s you?

The point is, most people will experience things they don’t want in life, but if this is something that happens far too often, then it could be the law of attraction working against you.

We will always repeat what our mind believes.

And if our mind has a belief that we aren’t good enough or deserving of something, then it will sabotage our every effort to get it.

4. How Thoughts, Feelings, and Beliefs Affect Our Manifestations

It is said that “thoughts become things.” But what does it mean?

This can be perfectly summed up by this quote:

“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.” – Gandhi

People like Gandhi have been saying things like this for hundreds of years, and recent discoveries in psychology and neuroscience validate these teachings with strange accuracy.

Let me break it down.

A child’s mind is like a sponge, absorbing everything we hear from our parents, teachers and friends.

This information forms our beliefs of the world and the type of person we can be. Even if we learn things that aren’t true, we accept them as true because that’s what our peers believed.

Then as we get older, every thought, idea, and decision we make is coming from the collection of beliefs that were created in us as children.

Our thoughts and internal dialog have been running on autopilot for years. This is all subconscious, so we aren’t even aware of most of the thoughts that run in the background of our mind.

It’s these thoughts that shape our lives and determine the person we become.

If we are born with rich parents, chances are, we will also be rich.

If we are born with parents who are athletes, chances are we will grow up to be an athlete, or at the very least, very fit and healthy.

But for many of us who aren’t born into a world of health, wealth, and harmonious relationships, we might struggle with these things later on in life.

It’s only natural for our minds to get into habitual thought patterns, because what’s familiar to us is our safety. We get comfortable with those thoughts and beliefs, even though they can limit our potential.

If we decide to go after something as an adult that we have never done before, it means we’ll have to step outside our comfort zone, which can bring up lots of negative emotions and fear.

Fear that we’ll fail or look stupid in front of our friends, or fear of succeeding, drastically change our lives, take on more responsibility and potentially lose our friends during the process.

Either way, the emotions cause resistance and we end up sabotaging ourselves, either by wasting times, turning down opportunity, or not taking the right action.

And when we don’t succeed in what we set out to do consciously, we confirm our beliefs with a feedback loop that prevents us from moving forward and we end up repelling what we want.

So, our thoughts and beliefs don’t just have a marginal effect on our lives, they completely create our reality because what we perceive to be real, becomes real in our mind and we experience that in our external world.

What we experience externally is a mirror image of our internal thoughts and beliefs of the mind.

5. Subconscious Mind vs Conscious Mind

It is becoming more commonly known that our consciousness accounts for only 5% of everything our mind is doing, and the other 95% of our mind is subconsciously working in the background.

It’s pretty obvious that there’s far too much information for us to be consciously aware of all the time.

Even if you were to think about what you had for dinner last night, you’ll have to access that from somewhere that wasn’t conscious to you before you thought about it.

You accessed it from your subconscious.

This is a good thing and extremely helpful, otherwise life would be unbearable. Imagine always being conscious of every single thought or experience that ever happened in your life.

It’s safe to say that we probably wouldn’t cope very well if this was the case.

But the subconscious mind is also where all of your beliefs are stored. As I mentioned before, our mind is wide open when we’re children and everything we learn gets absorbed into our subconscious or unconscious mind.

This process creates our paradigm, a collection of everything we know to be true, and becomes the rules that govern our reality.

If I dream to become wealthy and want to make 6 figures per year, I might have a subconscious belief that to achieve such a goal, I’ll have to work really hard to get there.

This is a common belief in many people because we collectively believe that money comes from the amount of work we produce or the amount of hours we put in.

But, if we really think about this, we can prove it to be false because there are people who make millions and even billions of dollars, yet they have exactly the same time as us.

So instead of working really hard to make six figures, we can change our subconscious paradigm or mindset to discover how to become more resourceful.

When we do that, we consciously notice more opportunities or attract the right people into our lives who can help us achieve our goals.

6. How to Change Your Thoughts and Beliefs

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality“ – Earl Nightingale

To change your beliefs about anything, change your interpretations.

Or reverse how you came to believe it.

So, if when you were a child your parents told you it’s hard to make lots of money and then you struggle to make money as an adult, you need to counteract this belief with a new one.

Something we have to realise is that this is a process and not something that we do once by clicking of our fingers, reading the best law of attraction books, or listening to positive affirmations a few times.

It’s something that will take conscious and daily effort.

It takes repetition and a change in brain states for the subconscious mind to take on the new belief.

Remember, our current way of thinking and self talk keeps the old limiting belief alive, so we have to shift this thinking to form a new perspective. When we change our thoughts about the belief, it changes the interpretation and we start to believe in something new and more empowering.

One of the best ways to become aware of your thoughts and uncover your false beliefs is to try a manifestation meditation.

7. Manifestation Techniques That Work

There are many techniques to help you manifest your dream life, but what might work well for me, might not well for you.

I recommend trying a few different techniques to see which ones you prefer.

Here are just a few:

  • Subconscious reprogramming
  • Acting as if
  • Gratitude journal
  • Scripting
